Letters from Sam.
Now that the kids are sharing a room, we put a tent over Maggie’s crib, lest she find herself rudely awakened in the morning by a basketball or toy piano landing on her head. The net, however, does not extend down the sides of the crib, and Sam has discovered that his foam letter tiles are narrow enough to slide between the bars. Next thing you know he’ll be sending her a cake with a saw and rope hidden inside so she can make her escape. 
Bugs
I’ve been taking a lot of bug pictures lately. Their structure and coloring can be beautiful, and they’re hard to catch in a photo, which makes for a fun challenge. This cicada was pretty easy though. He was… um… resting.

Jellybeans
I’m not going to go into lengthy potty-training discussions here, but I’ll mention that we’ve been using tiny jelly beans as a reward for effort. They’re small enough not to get Sam too “sugar-wired” but are tasty enough to be a good motivator.
The other day, though, as Sam started chewing his treat, he suddenly got a painful look in his eyes. His eyes watered, his jaw dropped and he started panting. I was confused until he said “Hot!!” I thought I’d given him cherry. It was cinnamon.
