We brought Samuel home yesterday, and last night I got more sleep than I have since he was born. This mothering business is intense, especially while recovering from surgery. Our little family is slowly figuring things out, though. For some reason, the evenings are the worst part. Maybe because as daylight fades, you’re painfully aware that a long night without much sleep stretches ahead.
It’s also intense because, though you know you’re going to love this new person, you’re completely unprepared for just how much you’ll love them.
Here are some photos of our little man!
Samuel Edwin Matzko
Born 6/8/06, 3:18pm

Lita ssamuel is so cute Uncle Randy sent us pictures the night he was born he is so cute!!! You and Austin are going to be great parents! I can just tell it! The baby has Austins hairline, but still it should make austin feel a sense of pride knowing the baby has some of his characteristics! The blond hair, well, dont worry about that, it should fall out and be red, just like yours! TTYL!!- Cousin Jessica
He is beautiful Melita! I can’t wait to see you all.
I’m so sorry it has taken this long for an official congrats from yours truly ;o) (I know you’ve bene holding your breath, riiiiight? Just kidding!) Anyway, my teensy little flu was nothing compared to what your body just endured, so I definitely owe your props! And you and Austin did a beautiful job–Samuel is precious! I can’t wait to meet him, and I’m sooooo sorry I was too sick to come in with Jess and Steve last week to do so. I’m all better now, though (I hope!) and we’ll see him in, what a couple of weeks? Can’t wait!!! Great job and once more, congratualtions and blessings. I think “Funky Hair” is my favorite shot of Sam thus far, though he is all-around darling ;o)
