Coolidge Corner

My parents have been staying near Coolidge Corner during their visit. I’d never spent much time there, but these last couple of weeks it’s been the perfect place for us to hang out. There’s plenty to do, but it’s close enough to be an easy outing for a new baby/mom.

On a recent visit there, Mom pointed out some interesting old photos of Coolidge Corner hanging (of all places) in the windows of CVS. I checked into the history of the area, and found out that the main landmark of Coolidge Corner, the SS Pierce building, was built in 1898-99. I found photos of the area in the 1920s and 30s on the Town of Brookline website. Not much has changed, actually. :)

I wonder why at some point someone decided to remove the balcony at the top of the turret.
