Since mothers are supposed to be placing babies on their backs to sleep these days (something that decreases the risk of SIDS), we’re also supposed to give them daily time on their tummies. This helps them develop certain muscle sets and keeps the backs of their heads from becoming misshapen. The problem is that most [...]

It was cool and rainy again today. Austin was listening to Arvo Part, which seemed to fit the mood of the day. I ran to the Kinko’s in Coolidge Corner to make a photocopy and decided to walk home. It was only lightly misting then, and I had a good umbrella, so I took the [...]

He’s started two new things in the last week: laughing out loud (sort of a gurgling chortle) and sleeping through the night (9 hours straight)! I’m hoping that’ll become a habit!

August is waning and so is the summer. The tourists are thinning out a bit (though there will be another rush when the leaves are colorful). My favorite season is on its way!

While you were out with your friends or sweetheart on Friday night, enjoying a relaxing evening, Sam was hard at work.
You’ll notice he has started enjoying his baths. He finally figured out that water splashes!

Our friend, Allie, has a live-in job with a very kind family that allows her to have (small, quiet) parties at their home. Last night, she hosted a sort of “girls’ night out” with a huge, home-cooked dinner. She made three kinds of soup (I had the mulligatawny - mmmm), three kinds of bread (from [...]

…for the first time! Maya and I “met” in an online discussion and soon discovered we were the same age, lived in the same state, and were due to have babies at about the same time. As it turned out, her son Ethan was born one day before Sam was. So when she brought [...]
