August is waning and so is the summer. The tourists are thinning out a bit (though there will be another rush when the leaves are colorful). My favorite season is on its way!
But right now we’re at that in-between time, where summer meets fall, the “back-to-school” season. I feel like carrying a pink eraser in my pocket to secretly squish in my hand when I need an idea. I want to take notes just for the joy of writing with a pencil and closing my binder with a crisp snap.
But, a little shamefully, I long to go to a state fair. There’s nothing like swinging high in a lightbulb-studded Ferris wheel seat, chin sticky with caramel from an apple, breathing in the cool night air and the scent of funnel cakes.

That balloon has startled me multiple times over the past two days!
