We’ve just returned from a week at my grandparents’ home in northern West Virginia. We don’t get on the internet much while we’re there, so sorry to have disappeared for awhile.
Sam had a blast visiting his great grandparents, great aunts and uncles, and second cousins (by the way, in the photos below, I refer to everyone by their relationship to Sam). My parents and Lianna were able to meet us there, too. Sam ate tons of fruit and vegetables from my grandparents’ garden. I’ve eaten food from that same soil since before I can remember, and I’m convinced it has special nutritional powers.
We walked, admired the new fence my grandparents built to keep determined deer from raiding their magical garden, watched frogs in the pond pretend to be floating leaves, played dominoes and cards, froze when the weather suddenly changed, got up early on St. Patrick’s Day for buckwheat cakes and sausage (served at the fire department in a nearby town), caught up on family news, and a million other small wonderful things.

Welcome home!
Beautiful photos. It sounds and looks as if you all had a happy time with lots of love to go around. I’m sure you feel rejuvenated, ready for the next several months of work and school.
Melita,
I’m sorry we haven’t “talked” in a while. I was just checking some things online and wondered if you had pictures of Aunt Virgie and Uncle Ed on your site from Easter. They look great! I really need to make a trip to see them. I think the last time I saw them was at Dad’s funeral. I enjoyed seeing them play dominoes. Mom always loved that game, too. Thanks, Melissa
