Our new apartment is one of three in an old house with an apple tree out front. Over the last week, the apples have finished ripening and started falling to the ground. Last night we went out with our landlords/neighbors and picked as many as we could reach. Ripened on the tree, free of chemicals and waxes, they taste worlds better than any spotless grocery store apples. There’s just no comparison. In the next couple of days we plan to make a batch of caramel apples… We’ll let you know how they turn out! 
The cat is Dolly, left here by the people who used to live in the apartment downstairs. The neighbors have been feeding and keeping an eye out for her.
