Stephanie tagged me to do a list like the one she just made over at her blog. She was inspired by a Real Simple article that talks about how people (especially women) sometimes focus so intently on our failures and flaws that we become discouraged, and forget the little victories. I do think we can become so overburdened with the discouragement of failure that, instead of being motivated to improve, we just become paralyzed. A little encouragement can be really strengthening! So… here are my “I do’s.”
1. I do get around on the bus, subway, or my own two feet, even when it’s inconvenient.
2. I do take the time to brush my toddler’s teeth well every day.
3. I do help my husband with his work.
4. I do imagine myself in other’s shoes, to try to be more understanding, and to pray better for them.
5. I do actually pray for people when I tell them I will.
6. I do stop to enjoy the little things with Sam (pretty leaves, neighborhood cats, silly faces, new sights).
7. I do drink milk and take my vitamins.
8. I do praise and encourage my husband for his work, his daddy skills, and for just being who he is.
9. I do try to brighten the day of under-appreciated bus/subway drivers, cashiers, and other harried employees. Been there, people. ![]()
10. I do make, fix, repurpose, and thrift shop instead of wasting money.
