It’s just plain old embroidery floss! The macro picks up all the details and texture, making it look much coarser than it actually is.

It certainly looks like some sort of braided rope or cord. I’ll take a stab at a more specific guess and say a coiled jump rope.

Is it weed-eater thread/string stuff? but then, there are little hairs that are kind of being unraveled off of it… so maybe its some type of cord….
