Sam is getting to be big stuff now (in this picture he’s hamming it up for Wade and Jessica). He loves that he can take part in conversations and therefore tries to take part in every conversation. He does a lot of copycatting and often reminds us of our own rules. It goes about like this:
Me: Hey, Austin?
Sam: Ossin?!
Me: I’m making some coffee…
Sam: Makin’ coff-fee!
Me: Do you want some too?
Sam:…free, fowr, fiy, siss, seben…
Me: Good counting. But that’s a different kind of two, Sam. I meant too, like also.
Sam: Awso.
Me: That’s right.
Sam: Sa right! Jood job!!
Me: So hon, did you say you wanted coffee?
Sam: Ossin?!
Me: Sam, stop calling him Austin, please. Call him Daddy.
Sam: Caw ‘im Daddy. Ossin?!
[During the course of the conversation, I will inevitably drop or spill something]
Sam: No! Don’ throw food on da fwoor, Mommy! Eeew. Messy Mommy.
Me: Yes, Mommy made a mess.
Sam: Mommy a mess. Messy Mommy. Sa messy Mommy.
Me: I know, Sam.
Sam: Eew. Messy Mommy.
Me: Ok, can we talk about something else?
Sam: (in a perfect little Rain Man impression) Yeah… …Messy Mommy.

Sam does a good job at copycatting. Why don’t you try to do a movie when he is doing it sometime. Keep up the good work Sam. : )
That is great! I taught katie’s 2 and 3 year old SS. class on Sunday and we talked about God providing the quail and manna for the Israelites. On the way home, I asked Katie what God provided. In a southern twang she said, “birds and mayonnaise.” We laughed and laughed!
Good ear for dialog, Lita. With all the verbal genes hanging out in this kid’s DNA, I’d be surprised if Sam’s not soon a veritable Cloaca Maxima of words.
